Akhil Akkineni’s rural action drama Lenin and the Bollywood comedy Dhamaal 4 made a simultaneous splash at the box office, capturing fans’ attention across regions. Lenin, featuring Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse, arrived with stronger word-of-mouth compared to Dhamaal 4, though both films saw an energetic start despite mixed reviews.
Lenin’s robust performance comes at a time when Tollywood had been grappling with declining theatre attendance. Producer Naga Vamsi, speaking at a Hyderabad press meet, shared his delight over the film’s impact: "For the last three to four months, the industry had been worried about poor footfalls in theatres but the success of Lenin has turned things around dramatically." The mounting audience demand has led distributors to increase the number of screens, a rare sight in recent months.
However, the celebratory mood was dampened by a technical glitch on BookMyShow, which disrupted real-time tracking of ticket sales for both Lenin and Dhamaal 4. Fans voiced their frustration on social media as ticket visibility fluctuated, making it hard to gauge peak hour trends. Despite this hiccup, both films are expected to post impressive collections, with Lenin emerging as a standout winner.
With Lenin’s positive momentum, industry watchers are keen to see how its theatrical run shapes the weeks ahead and whether it sets a new trend for upcoming releases.
