Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's much-awaited action thriller Alpha has hit a rough patch at the box office, with its Monday earnings plunging to just ₹3.85 crore nett—a steep 60% drop from its opening day tally of ₹9.25 crore. This comes after the film managed a weekend total of ₹34 crore nett, a figure that, while respectable for a female-led vehicle, lags behind earlier entries in the YRF Spy Universe.
Despite Alia Bhatt's star power and Sharvari's rising profile, Alpha faced mostly negative reviews upon release. The inclusion of big names like Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor added heft to the cast, but the film's critical reception has not translated into sustained audience interest. As per trade sources, the sharp Monday drop signals that Alpha "hasn’t found acceptance among audiences," especially worrying given the high production costs associated with such a franchise film.
The film's performance so far indicates a challenging road ahead, with weekday holds now crucial for its survival at the box office. Early social media chatter and fan discussions have been muted, reflecting the tepid response. With such a drastic decline so soon after release, it remains to be seen if Alpha can recover or if its journey will be cut short by dwindling footfalls.
