Kajal Aggarwal’s The India Story Opens to Disastrous Box Office Numbers

Kajal Aggarwal’s latest film, The India Story, has made an unexpectedly poor debut at the box office, collecting just ₹16 lakhs nett on its opening day. This social drama, which tackles the dangers of pesticide farming, was expected to make a mark but has struggled to draw audiences.

Directed by Chettan DK and featuring Shreyas Talpade in a significant role, the film arrived with little fanfare or promotional push. Kajal Aggarwal, known for her work across multiple languages, had been on a varied run recently, but this release has failed to generate momentum, especially considering its reported production budget between ₹20 crores and ₹30 crores.

Industry trackers noted that The India Story could not even make it to the 24-hour trending charts on BookMyShow. The lack of buzz was evident, with minimal awareness among the public and almost no walk-in attendance. To add to its woes, the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film remain unreleased due to censorship problems.

According to Sacnilk, the film’s disappointing numbers are "nothing short of disastrous," highlighting the scale of the setback for the entire team.
