Michael has made a resounding impact at the Indian box office, with the biopic now surpassing ₹25 crore gross in the country. This notable milestone comes even as major Bollywood releases compete for audience attention.
The film’s strong showing comes on the heels of recent successes for Hollywood biopics in India, but Michael’s steady run is being seen as particularly impressive. Despite tough competition, especially from Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla and the continued popularity of IPL season, Michael has capitalised on positive word of mouth, as noted by trade trackers. Fans on social media and portals like X and Sacnilk have highlighted the movie’s unexpected weekday growth, a rare feat for international releases.
On its fifth day, Michael outperformed Dhurandhar 2, collecting more than ₹1.35 crore for the day and even overtaking Lee Cronin’s The Mummy’s previous April record of ₹23 crore in India. Box office analysts and Instagram tracking pages have called this a promising sign for Hollywood titles amid local competition. As per Koimoi, "April usually sees tough competition from local films and IPL season."
With two days left in its opening week, Michael faces a challenge as The Devil Wears Prada 2 releases on May 1. Still, trade experts believe it has already secured its place as April’s highest-grossing Hollywood film in India, and fans are eager to see if the film can maintain its momentum in the coming days.
