Prabhas’ Darling Re-release Takes April By Storm
Prabhas’ ever-popular film Darling made a triumphant return to cinemas over the fourth weekend of April, easily outshining all new releases and setting a fresh benchmark for re-releases in the Telugu states. Even as recent films from Prabhas like Salaar made waves on their initial re-release, Darling’s renewed run has now surpassed all previous records for the star in this space, as per sources.
The Telugu box office has been experiencing a lull, with the ongoing IPL season and intense summer heat affecting theatre attendance. Despite these challenges, the re-release of Darling, produced under the Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra banner and directed by A. Karunakaran, managed to draw crowds and deliver robust collections. Social media buzz reflected fans’ excitement, with many expressing nostalgia and delight at seeing Prabhas on the big screen once again.
Meanwhile, new releases such as Gedelaraju and Vaazha 2 struggled to make a significant impact, with only Vaazha 2 showing some promise in urban centres. The Hollywood film Micheal saw a decent turnout in multiplexes, but other titles under-performed across the board.
With the April box office remaining subdued, all eyes are now on the May day weekend, which promises bigger action as films like Gayapadda Simham, Jet Lee, and Malayalam release Patriot gear up for theatrical runs.
