Rajesh Kouluri from Andhra Pradesh and Bhavani Bompelly from Telangana have been selected for the prestigious National Teachers Awards 2026, highlighting the region's contribution to quality education. Both educators, representing government schools in their respective states, are among 48 teachers across India chosen for this year’s honour.

Rajesh Kouluri teaches at Mandal Parishad Primary School in Chinamallupeta, Andhra Pradesh, while Bhavani Bompelly serves at MPPS Girls, Gandhari, Telangana. Their selection stands out as a recognition of their efforts to enhance the standard of school education and positively impact students’ lives.

The awards will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony scheduled for September 5 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, coinciding with Teachers’ Day celebrations. During the event, short documentaries showcasing the achievements and contributions of each awardee will be screened, offering insight into their dedication and innovative teaching practices.

According to the Union Ministry of Education, the 48 awardees represent 27 states, seven Union Territories, and six Central government organisations. The final list comprises 26 male and 22 female teachers, reflecting a diverse group of educators from across the country. The selection process involved three rigorous stages at the district, state, and national levels, ensuring that only those with a significant impact on their students and communities were chosen.

This recognition not only brings pride to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but also shines a spotlight on the vital role teachers play in shaping the nation’s future.
