AP Government's Nandi Revival Silences Chiranjeevi Critics

When Megastar Chiranjeevi stood at the Gaddar Awards ceremony and passionately urged the Andhra Pradesh government to revive the long-forgotten Nandi Awards, he wasn't expecting the backlash that followed. Social media quickly filled with negative propaganda, with critics questioning his motives and accusing him of playing politics under the guise of championing the film industry. Some dismissed his appeal in a negative way, while others tried to paint it as interference in government affairs.

But the AP government's swift and positive response has firmly shut down those narratives.

AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh announced that the government is fully committed to honoring artists and that the Nandi Awards will be announced and celebrated soon. The decision validated Chiranjeevi's long-standing concern one shared by fellow artists that the awards recognizing Telugu cinema's finest talent had been neglected for far too long.

The industry rallied behind the announcement. Prasanna Kumar, honorary secretary of the Telugu Film Producers Council, welcomed the move, noting that previous attempts under Chandrababu Naidu's regime had stalled midway. "This time, industry members are hopeful that awards for 2025 films will be presented and the process will be completed smoothly," he said.

Director Hemanth Madhukar echoed the sentiment, calling state awards special for their ability to boost filmmaker confidence and encourage unique storytelling.

What critics tried to turn into controversy, the government turned into action proving that Chiranjeevi's request was always about the industry, never about himself.
