Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has publicly accused BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) of favouritism, alleging that several of KTR’s close friends benefited from business and property deals during the previous BRS government. Sanjay, who has been vocal in his criticism of the BRS leadership, claimed that personal relationships were leveraged for mutual benefit in sectors ranging from footwear to logistics and hospitality.
Sanjay specifically pointed to the Centro footwear business, stating that a friend of KTR was involved before the business was transferred to a major corporate group led by Ambani. He further alleged that KTR leased a farmhouse from another friend, and that this same friend’s company later received permission to construct a building within the Hussain Sagar FTL area. Additional claims included links between KTR’s associates and a logistics park, as well as interests in hotel and medical device ventures, with Sanjay asserting that KTR ultimately profited from these connections.
The Union Minister also raised concerns about the allocation of the BRS ticket in the Khanapur Assembly constituency, alleging that KTR favoured a college friend over the sitting MLA. Sanjay questioned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s inaction, despite what he described as ample evidence of irregularities, and suggested that ongoing negotiations between Congress and BRS regarding land issues were intended to generate funds for the AICC.
He criticised the Congress for sending MPs and leaders to inspect farmhouses, calling these visits a “political drama.” During one such visit to the Janwada farmhouse, owner Pradeep Reddy clarified that he is the legal owner and that KTR, his childhood friend, leased the property. Sanjay also commented on the political dynamics in Khairatabad, predicting a by-election and urging Hindu voters to unite. The allegations come amid heightened tensions between the Congress and BRS over land and property controversies.
