Delhi Police Denies Passport Cancellation After CJP Protest Violence

The Delhi Police has officially addressed and dismissed widespread rumours about the cancellation of passports for individuals allegedly involved in the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest violence in the capital. This clarification comes after a surge of social media posts and reports speculated that authorities were preparing to revoke passports of those identified through CCTV and video evidence from the July 20 clashes.

The protest, which took place during the CJP's "Chalo Sansad" march towards Parliament, escalated into violence, resulting in injuries to both protesters and security personnel. Police responded with tear gas and baton charges to disperse the crowd as tensions rose. Protesters later accused law enforcement of using excessive force, while the police maintained their actions were necessary to restore order.

In response to the viral claims, the New Delhi District Police issued a statement on X, calling the reports misleading. The post clarified, "no such decision has been announced," and urged citizens to refrain from spreading unverified information. The police emphasized that only updates from official channels should be considered reliable.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to de-escalate the situation, with government representatives and CJP leaders expected to meet at the Constitution Club of India to discuss the protesters' demands.
