Dil Raju’s recent interview and podcast appearances have reignited industry-wide debate, with his outspoken comments on Telugu hero remunerations and the evolving OTT landscape drawing sharp attention. Known for big productions like 'Game Changer', Dil Raju’s frank admissions have set the Telugu film fraternity abuzz.
The seasoned producer reflected on how soaring hero fees are straining producers, openly stating that "some actors increase their fees based on the revenue generated by their previous films." He also acknowledged that PR teams sometimes influence online perceptions through artificial digital trends. Notably, Raju admitted to the release of "fake box office collection posters" during the 'Game Changer' promotions, calling it a mistake and taking responsibility.
Delving further, Dil Raju revealed that nearly 80% of 'Game Changer' losses were offset by the commercial success of 'Sankranthiki Vasthunnam', offering rare insight into film business economics. His praise for Tamil icon Vijay and Bollywood’s Salman Khan—"for their work ethic and professionalism"—sparked speculation about his views on Telugu stars, leading to lively discussions on social media.
On the OTT front, Raju described a market in flux: "Corporates make a U-turn in a night when they understand something isn’t working out," he explained, citing how streaming deals are now closely linked to box office numbers and have dropped by nearly 50%. Sharing a personal setback, he revealed, "I had no option but to release it on a pay-per-view basis, through which I got only Rs. 1.5 crores."
With Dil Raju at the center of these candid revelations, industry watchers are eager to see if greater transparency and collaboration will shape the next phase of Telugu cinema.
