Veteran actor Nana Patekar was found unresponsive at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, early Thursday morning and declared dead on arrival at Manipal Hospital in Bambolim. Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), initiating a formal investigation into the circumstances of his demise.

Dr Shekhar Salkar of Manipal Hospital stated that medical staff attempted to revive Patekar for approximately 45 minutes with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but he could not be revived. Initial reports suggest a possible cardiac arrest, but the definitive cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination, which is part of the ongoing police inquest.

The registration of an unnatural death case is standard legal procedure in such situations and does not imply any suspicion of foul play at this stage. Police officials have confirmed that the investigation aims to clarify the sequence of events leading to the actor's death.

Nana Patekar's last rites were performed at his farmhouse in Donje village near Pune on Thursday night, with his son Malhar Patekar conducting the cremation. The actor was accorded full state honours during the ceremony.

Authorities are expected to release further details after the post-mortem report is completed, which will clarify the exact cause of death and conclude the official inquiry.
