Pawan Kalyan gets High Court nod to act in films while serving as Deputy CM

Pawan Kalyan, who was recently seen in the action-packed entertainer 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' directed by Harish Shankar, has received a major boost as the Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed a petition challenging his ability to continue his film career while holding the post of Deputy Chief Minister. This decision brings relief to both the star and his fans, who have been closely following the legal proceedings.

The petition, filed by former IAS officer Vijay Kumar, raised concerns about potential misuse of official power and public resources, specifically pointing to ticket price hikes for the much-anticipated film 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu'. Allegations included claims of conflict of interest and improper promotion of films during his tenure in office. However, Pawan Kalyan’s legal team clarified to the court that "the producers sought ticket hikes based solely on the film’s budget, and all decisions were made by the government"—emphasizing that the actor-turned-politician played no direct role in the ticket pricing process.

The state government opposed the plea, noting that there is no law or constitutional rule preventing a minister from engaging in acting. Ultimately, the High Court found no evidence of statutory violation or actionable misuse of authority. The court stated that ethical concerns alone do not warrant restrictions, and it affirmed that public representatives are not barred from private professions unless clearly stated by law.

With this verdict, Pawan Kalyan is free to balance both his political and cinematic responsibilities. His team has confirmed that any new film projects will be officially announced by him, and the star is expected to commence new shoots later this year, keeping fans eager for his next big screen appearance.
