Preity Mukhundhan Passed on Dragon and Raaka Before Big Releases

Preity Mukhundhan, riding high after the success of 'Blast' and 'Idhayam Murali', is set to continue her winning streak with her upcoming Telugu film 'Emo Emo Idi', which is scheduled for release on October 30, 2026. The actress is also gearing up for the release of her new Tamil film 'Anbil Avan', co-starring Ashok Selvan, which hits theatres this Friday.

At the pre-release event for 'Anbil Avan', director Ashwath Marimuthu shared an interesting detail about Preity's career choices. He revealed that he had initially approached Preity for the female lead in his film 'Dragon', but she declined the offer. The role eventually went to Kayadu Lohar. Ashwath clarified there were no hard feelings, recalling that he later told Preity, "an even bigger project was on the way"—referring to 'Anbil Avan', which he described as a script he was excited to offer her due to the prominent role it provided.

This is not the first instance where Preity had to turn down a major project. She previously passed on a role in Atlee’s big-budget Allu Arjun starrer 'Raaka' because her schedule was packed with commitments for 'Idhayam Murali'. These decisions underline how in-demand Preity has become in both Telugu and Tamil cinema.

Earlier this year, following her success in 'Blast', Preity was announced as the lead in the romantic comedy 'Idhayam Murali', further cementing her status as a sought-after talent across industries. With 'Emo Emo Idi' set for an October release and 'Anbil Avan' arriving this week, Preity’s career continues to generate buzz among fans and industry watchers alike.
