Ranveer Singh Ordered to Visit Mysuru Temple Over Kantara Ritual Controversy
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh found himself at the centre of controversy after his mimicry of a Daiva ritual from the acclaimed film Kantara Chapter-1 during the closing ceremony of the Goa International Film Festival last year. The incident, which drew strong reactions from Daiva worshippers, led to the registration of an FIR against Ranveer, with accusations of hurting religious sentiments surfacing.
Ranveer, known for his dynamic performances and recent projects like 'Dhurandhar', responded by approaching the Karnataka High Court to quash the FIR. The case, which also involved a complaint by advocate Prashanth Methal, was finally closed by Justice H Nagaprasanna. The judge directed Ranveer to visit the Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru within four weeks, after the actor's lawyer cited security concerns for the delay. Notably, Ranveer had already issued a heartfelt apology on Instagram, clarifying, "If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise."
The hearing was marked by pointed comments from the bench, with Justice Nagaprasanna openly questioning the priorities of Karnataka Police regarding the case's handling. The film Kantara, helmed by Rishab Shetty, had been praised by Ranveer, who stated his intent was only to appreciate Shetty’s performance.
With the legal chapter now closed, all eyes are on Ranveer Singh as he prepares to fulfil the court’s directive. Fans and the film fraternity will be keenly watching his next steps, while anticipation builds for his upcoming ventures.
