Sreeleela Steps Back from Tollywood, Eyes Tamil and Bollywood Projects

Sreeleela, who quickly rose to prominence in Telugu cinema after her debut with Pelli SandaD, is now in the midst of a career transition. As per sources, the actress currently has no new Telugu films in her kitty, marking a notable pause after a phase where she was a regular fixture in big commercial projects. Her recent Telugu outings like Robinhood, Mass Jathara, and Ustaad Bhagat Singh did not fare well at the box office, and her Tamil film Parasakthi also struggled to make an impact.

The buzz suggests that Sreeleela is not actively signing new Telugu projects at the moment. Industry grapevine has it that her increased remuneration may have made her less accessible for some Tollywood producers. However, it appears that she is making a conscious effort to expand her horizons, with Tamil and Hindi cinema now taking center stage in her career plans.

In Kollywood, Sreeleela is working alongside Dhanush in his upcoming film and is also associated with D 55. Her Tamil lineup includes OM Chapter-1 Udhiram: The Blood Wood. Meanwhile, Bollywood is also on her radar, with her Hindi debut directed by Anurag Basu and starring Kartik Aaryan. She is also part of Diler, helmed by Kunal Deshmukh and produced by Maddock Films, sharing screen space with Ibrahim Ali Khan. Reportedly, Sreeleela and Janhvi Kapoor are set to team up for an untitled romantic thriller directed by Umesh Bist, which is expected to go on floors later this year.

While some in the industry are wondering if Tollywood has moved on, others believe Sreeleela's move is strategic. A successful stint in Tamil or Hindi could easily pave the way for a strong comeback in Telugu cinema, possibly with more selective and impactful roles. For now, all eyes are on her next moves beyond Tollywood.
