Sushmita Konidela, known for her work as a producer and as the elder daughter of Megastar Chiranjeevi, has been appointed as a special invitee to the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam Trust Board in Vijayawada. The Andhra Pradesh Endowments Department Secretary Kannababu issued the appointment orders on Tuesday, marking a significant step for Sushmita in public service.
Sushmita has made her mark in the Telugu film industry, initially as a stylist and later as a producer. She recently co-produced 'Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu', a film featuring her father Chiranjeevi. Her new role at the prominent Kanaka Durga Temple will see her providing suggestions for the temple's development and administration, with a focus on enhancing facilities for the many devotees who visit throughout the year.
The appointment comes at a time when several members of the Konidela family are holding key public positions. Pawan Kalyan, Sushmita's uncle, is currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, while another uncle, Naga Babu, was recently named chairman of the AP-GREEN executive committee. Chiranjeevi’s wife Surekha has also been appointed as a member of the Yadadri temple board in Telangana.
The Vijayawada Durga Temple is especially significant during the Dasara festival, drawing large crowds of devotees. Sushmita's involvement is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the board, particularly in improving the experience for pilgrims and supporting ongoing development initiatives.
