Venkatesh & Rana Daggubati: Court Update in Deccan Kitchen Dispute

Venkatesh Daggubati, a familiar face in Telugu cinema with a string of memorable roles, and his nephew Rana Daggubati, known for his versatile performances across industries, have found themselves in the legal spotlight lately. As per sources, the Telangana High Court has dismissed petitions from the Daggubati family seeking to halt criminal proceedings related to the Deccan Kitchen property dispute in Hyderabad's Film Nagar.

The buzz suggests that the case stems from allegations by businessman Kore Nandu Kumar, who claims that members of the Daggubati family, along with some GHMC officials, unlawfully entered the leased property, demolished certain structures, and removed items from the premises. The complaint also mentions threats made during the dispute. Reportedly, Venkatesh, Rana, producer D Suresh Babu, D Abhiram, and their accountant had argued that the matter was a civil dispute about lease rights and possession, not a criminal offence.

However, the court has ruled that even if a dispute involves civil issues, a criminal element can still be present if the complaint and evidence point to a cognisable offence. The petitions to quash the case were therefore dismissed, meaning the criminal proceedings will continue before the lower court. It's important to note, as per the latest order, that neither Venkatesh nor Rana has been found guilty—the case will simply move forward through the legal process.
