Vijay Deverakonda, known for his impactful performances in Telugu cinema, has taken legal action to safeguard his personality rights. The actor recently approached the Delhi High Court, raising concerns about the unauthorised use of his name, images, and personal attributes across various online platforms. This move comes amid his continued prominence in the industry, with fans closely following his career trajectory.
Deverakonda's plea highlights several issues, including the use of his identity for fake endorsements, impersonation, and AI-generated content. He has specifically pointed out that some individuals have posed as his agents, publishing misleading endorsements without his consent. The actor also flagged the commercial exploitation of his persona through merchandise such as T-shirts and mugs, as well as mobile applications that allegedly misuse his image and name.
The legal action targets major social media and e-commerce platforms, including Meta, X, Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, and Redbubble. Deverakonda's counsel informed the court that, following the filing of the suit, some of the offending URLs had already been removed. The plea also seeks protection against deepfakes, digital manipulation, and misleading websites that could deceive the public.
The Delhi High Court has issued summons in the suit and a notice on Deverakonda's application for an interim injunction. While the court indicated it would pass an order on the interim plea, no final decision was announced during the hearing. The matter is now scheduled for its next hearing on February 2, 2027.
