Aamir Khan has stepped forward to support Sai Pallavi as she faces online criticism over her Hindi in the much-awaited romantic drama Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and directed by Sunil Panday. The film, which arrives in cinemas on May 1, 2026, has been buzzing on social platforms, particularly over Sai Pallavi’s casting and her Hindi language skills.
Coming off an acclaimed run of projects, Aamir Khan addressed the media and made his confidence in Sai Pallavi clear. “I was very sure I wanted Sai Pallavi, and no one else for the film. She fitted the part like a glove. She is completely natural. In my opinion, Sai is the best contemporary actress in Indian cinema,” Aamir stated, directly addressing the criticism.
He further explained that the team crafted Sai's character as a Tamilian to bring authenticity and accommodate her accent. “Having done that, I was surprised at how quickly Sai conquered the ‘ka’ and ‘ki’ hurdles of Hindi,” he added. Aamir also pointed out the legacy of Tamil actresses who broke into Hindi cinema despite language barriers, saying, “There have been so many top Tamilian actresses in Hindi who spoke with an accent. It didn’t stop them from conquering the pan-India market.”
With Aamir championing her abilities and the film’s release drawing near, anticipation is building for how audiences will respond to Sai Pallavi’s performance in Ek Din.
