Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan faces setback with Ek Din at box office

Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated support for his son Junaid Khan’s debut as lead in the romantic drama Ek Din has not translated into box office success, as the film fell short of expectations with just ₹4.25 crore nett in India and about ₹5.44 crore worldwide. With Junaid sharing screen space with the talented Sai Pallavi, many had hoped the film would mark a strong beginning for his career.

Coming off his own mixed box office run in recent years, Aamir Khan actively promoted Ek Din in hopes of boosting its reach. Despite this, audiences did not turn up in large numbers. In a recent interview, Junaid candidly revealed his father’s feelings, saying, "He is still moping. Even after all these years, after seeing all of it, it still really bothers him. But he keeps himself busy and goes back out there and does it all over again. He takes a film’s failure very personally, especially when he likes the film."

Junaid acknowledged that while a section of viewers appreciated the film, the broader audience did not connect with it: "Yeah, the film has not done well. We were hopeful, but I guess it didn’t do well. Hota hai kabhi kabhi. It’s a film that I really liked and enjoyed. A lot of people did really like it, but I guess most people didn’t really like it."

With this experience behind them, all eyes are now on what Junaid and Aamir Khan will take up next, as fans await their future announcements.
