Adivi Sesh returns to the big screen with his latest romantic action drama, Dacoit, which made a grand entry into theatres across India this week. The film, also starring Mrunal Thakur, marks one of the most ambitious projects for Sesh, known for his string of content-driven hits. Notably, Dacoit was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, aiming to capture a wider audience base.
Directed by Shaneil Deo and produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, Dacoit features an impressive ensemble including Anurag Kashyap making his Tollywood debut alongside Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, and Sunil. The makers rolled out a special Buy One Get One (BOGO) ticket offer on BookMyShow for Hindi audiences, though this is not available in major southern states. This strategic move has generated major buzz among moviegoers in the Hindi belt.
The film stormed the box office, grossing over ₹15 Cr worldwide and crossing the half-million-dollar mark in the USA on its opening day Sesh’s fastest yet. Packed theatres and strong advance bookings, with over 250K tickets sold via BookMyShow, signal a robust start. Social media is abuzz with praise for the film’s scale and performances, while the Hindi version alone collected over ₹1.25 Cr on day one.
Adding to the excitement, it’s now confirmed that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for both Telugu and Hindi versions, as revealed during the film’s opening credits. With rave word-of-mouth and swelling crowds, all eyes are on Dacoit’s first weekend momentum and its upcoming digital debut.
