Alia Bhatt has officially joined the cast of the much-anticipated sequel, Tumbbad 2, starring Sohum Shah in the lead. The announcement marks a significant addition to the film, especially as Alia has been riding low on her recent projects, including 'Alpha'. Her involvement is expected to bring new energy and a wider audience to the mythological horror-fantasy franchise.

Tumbbad, directed by Adesh Prasad, became a cult favourite after its initial release and subsequent re-release, earning acclaim for its unique blend of folklore and horror. The sequel aims to build on this legacy, with Sohum Shah reprising his role and Nawazuddin Siddiqui joining the ensemble. As per reports, Alia is slated to shoot for approximately 20 days, indicating a substantial role in the narrative.

Production for Tumbbad 2 is already underway in Mumbai. The film is being produced by Sohum Shah Films in collaboration with Pen Studios, with Pen Marudhar handling distribution. Sanyukta Kaza is on board as editor, while the music composer is yet to be announced. The makers have teased fans with the tagline, “Pralay Aayega,” hinting at an even darker and more expansive exploration of the Tumbbad mythology.

The film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on December 3, 2027. With filming in progress and a star-studded cast, expectations are high. Fans can look forward to more updates as the team continues to unveil details about this eagerly awaited sequel.
