Now, a fresh update has revealed that the new film, titled Sarpatta 2, is not a sequel but a prequel. This development was confirmed by the film’s leading lady, Dushara Vijayan, who played Mariyamma in the original. In her own words: “Sarpatta 2 shooting begins this month. I’m very excited. This one is going to be a prequel to the story, so even I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s going to shape up. Mariyamma is coming back. Sarpatta Part 1 was released on OTT due to COVID, but this one is going to have a proper theatrical release.”
