Chiranjeevi Monitors Peddi Release as Industry Resolves Theatre Dispute
Megastar Chiranjeevi is reportedly keeping a vigilant eye on the theatrical landscape as his son Ram Charan's big-budget film Peddi gears up for its grand release. With recent turbulence in Tollywood over disagreements between exhibitors and producers, all eyes have turned to Chiranjeevi, especially as Peddi is poised to hit the screens with much anticipation.
The Telugu industry has been abuzz, with heated discussions around the proposed shift to a percentage revenue model for single screens in the Nizam region, moving away from the traditional rental system. The stakes are high, considering Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and starring Ram Charan alongside Janhvi Kapoor, is mounted on an impressive ₹350 crore budget. Industry insiders noted that Chiranjeevi is prepared to mediate talks if needed, aiming to ensure a smooth path for Peddi and other marquee releases.
A crucial meeting at the Film Chamber brought together top producers, including Peddi’s producer Venkata Satish Kilaru, to address the impasse. As per sources, "the producers have agreed on a percentage model for theatres," although a committee will fine-tune the details for A, B, and C centres. The result is that all hurdles for Peddi's release have been cleared, with exhibitors promising full cooperation.
With the stage set for a record-breaking release on June 4th across Telugu states, fans can expect Peddi to arrive in style. As the industry looks forward, the focus shifts to the committee's final recommendations and the electrifying box office debut of this much-awaited mass entertainer.
