Dhanush, who is marking his birthday today, finds his upcoming film OM at the center of release date discussions. The film, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and featuring a star-studded cast including Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Indrans, Naseeruddin Shah, and Chaitu Jonnalagadda, was previously announced for a grand theatrical release on October 16, 2026. However, the latest promotional material has notably dropped this date, sparking speculation about a possible postponement.
The timing is crucial, as OM was set to compete directly with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 at the box office on the same day. Industry reports indicate that the makers are considering shifting the release to avoid this major clash. Adding to the complexity, OM’s post-theatrical streaming deal with Netflix was reportedly structured around the original October 16 release. Any change in the theatrical window could require renegotiation with the streaming giant.
