Dil Raju Exits Jatayu, New Producer On Board

Producer Dil Raju has stepped away from the ambitious Telugu fantasy project Jatayu, after investing heavily in its script and pre-production. The film, directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti, was initially set to feature Vijay Deverakonda in the lead. However, after two years of extensive groundwork, Deverakonda exited due to other commitments, and Roshan Meka was brought in as the new protagonist.

Jatayu, envisioned as a high-budget fantasy drama with a strong emphasis on VFX, had generated considerable interest during its early development. Dil Raju’s involvement was seen as a major boost, given his track record of backing large-scale Telugu films. Despite this, he decided to withdraw from the project, with sources indicating that financial viability concerns may have influenced his decision. The exact reasons for his exit remain undisclosed.

The production mantle has now passed to Ashok Vardhan Muppa, known for producing Kalyanram’s Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi. Under his leadership, Jatayu is expected to proceed with a budget exceeding ₹200 crores, making it one of the most expensive Telugu films in recent memory.

Currently, Roshan Meka is busy shooting for Emo Emo Idi with director Sailesh Kolanu. He is slated to begin work on Jatayu from October. An official announcement regarding the new production setup is expected soon.
