Dulquer Salmaan’s "I’m Game" and Karthi’s "Sardar 2" have joined the September lineup for Annapurna Studios, marking a significant expansion in the studio’s distribution efforts. Annapurna Studios, known for its commitment to content-driven cinema, has been steadily increasing its presence in the Telugu film distribution space, bringing a variety of films from different languages to audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The studio’s recent distribution portfolio includes Malayalam films like "Eko" and "Balan: The Boy," as well as Suriya’s Tamil film "Karuppu" (released in Telugu as "Veerabhadrudu") and Akkineni Akhil’s "Lenin." For September, the focus is on "I’m Game," "Sardar 2," and "EPIC – First Semester," all set to cater to diverse tastes among Telugu moviegoers. Annapurna Studios is also handling both production and distribution for "Ramba Oorvasi Menaka," further demonstrating its integrated approach.
Supriya Yarlagadda, Executive Director of Annapurna Studios, emphasized the studio’s vision: “Telugu audiences have always been passionate film lovers and have celebrated great cinema irrespective of language. For us, cinema has no linguistic barriers when the content connects with the audience. Through our distribution initiative, we want to bring films that we genuinely believe deserve to be experienced on the big screen to audiences across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while building a transparent and sustainable distribution ecosystem.”
Annapurna Studios is working towards reviving the commission-based distribution model, aiming to provide better theatrical opportunities for story-driven films. This move is seen as an effort to create a more transparent and sustainable ecosystem for filmmakers and exhibitors alike.
