Janhvi Kapoor, fresh from her appearance in Ram Charan’s 'Peddi', is now in advanced discussions for an ambitious creature horror film directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the cult hit 'Tumbbad'. This project, set to be produced by Jio Studios, is generating considerable buzz given Barve’s reputation for atmospheric storytelling and Janhvi’s recent pivot towards more performance-driven roles.
Janhvi, who made her Telugu debut with NTR’s 'Devara' and followed it up with 'Peddi', has faced significant criticism over her roles in Tollywood. While she was keen to establish herself in Telugu cinema, fans on social media were vocal about her limited screen presence and lack of meaty scenes, leading to the 'Peddi' director issuing a formal apology and even cutting some of her sequences. As per reports, Janhvi was "extremely disappointed" with the response to her role and skipped the film’s success celebrations.
Despite these setbacks, Janhvi remains undeterred, reportedly preparing for her next film with intensive workshops. The actress is said to be "highly interested" in the creature horror project, hoping to showcase a different side of her acting abilities under Barve’s direction. Industry insiders suggest she will be extra selective with Telugu offers, especially after her recent experience.
With Janhvi’s enthusiasm for challenging characters and Barve’s flair for horror, fans are eager to see how this collaboration unfolds. All eyes are now on official announcements and whether Janhvi will soon return to Telugu screens with a more substantial role.
