Telugu cinema bags nine awards at the 72nd National Film Awards
Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, has emerged as a major winner at the 72nd National Film Awards, securing the coveted Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment honour. This recognition underscores the film’s sweeping impact and the director’s continued ascent in Telugu cinema.
The Telugu film industry’s presence was felt strongly across the awards, with nine wins spanning a diverse range of categories. Kalki 2898 AD also earned Nithin Zihani Choudhary the Best Production Designer award, a testament to the movie’s grand visual storytelling and meticulous set design.
Niharika Konidela’s production Committee Kurrollu was celebrated as the Best Telugu Feature Film, while P. Ravikumar’s exceptional work on the film was acknowledged with the Best Makeup Artist award. Pushpa 2, helmed by Sukumar, continued its blockbuster streak by winning Best Screenplay for Sukumar and Best Costume Designer for Deepali Noor and Sheetal Sharma, further cementing its status as a fan favourite.
Venky Atluri’s writing prowess shone through with the Best Dialogue Writer award for Lucky Baskhar. Meanwhile, 31: Chinna Katha Kaadu was named Best Children’s Film, and its young star Arundev Pothula received the Best Child Artist accolade, highlighting the industry’s nurturing of new talent.
