Kamal Haasan and director Shankar have officially cleared all major hurdles for their upcoming film, Indian 3. This announcement comes after a challenging period for the project, especially following the disappointing box office performance of Indian 2, which marked their collaboration nearly two decades after the original Indian.
Indian 3, produced by Lyca Productions, faced significant uncertainty when the budget exceeded initial estimates and Netflix withdrew from the digital rights deal. With Lyca hesitant to invest further, the film's future was in question. However, Kamal Haasan personally stepped in to mediate discussions with Shankar and Lyca Productions. According to the latest official statement from the makers, these issues have now been resolved.
A portion of Indian 3's shoot remains incomplete, and post-production work is yet to begin. The cast includes Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, SJ Suryah, Siddharth, and Priya Bhavani Shankar, with music composed by AR Rahman. Shankar, who has been developing several scripts over the past year, is now set to focus on completing Indian 3.
The production team has confirmed that the release date will be announced soon, and the film is currently expected to hit theatres in 2027. This development has brought renewed attention to the franchise, with fans eager to see how the story continues after the events of Indian 2.
