Kiran Abbavaram’s Chennai Love Story Opens to Decent Response

Kiran Abbavaram returned to theatres with Chennai Love Story, following his previous successes with KA and K Ramp. The film, featuring Sri Gouri Priya as the female lead, hit screens with premiere shows on Thursday and saw packed audiences in city centres, while other regions also reported healthy attendance.

The movie is directed by Ravi Namburi, with the script penned by Sai Razesh, known for his work on Colour Photo and Baby. The production team behind Baby is also associated with this project, bringing additional attention from Telugu audiences familiar with their earlier hits. The team had described Chennai Love Story as a "Cult Film" even before its release, reflecting their confidence in the project.

Initial reactions to the film have been mixed, with reports highlighting an underwhelming second half as a point of criticism. Despite this, Friday morning shows maintained decent occupancies across theatres. The lack of major competing releases and the weak performance of Jana Nayagan have contributed to Chennai Love Story’s promising start, giving it a fair opportunity to perform well over the weekend.

With strong premiere attendance and steady footfalls, Chennai Love Story is positioned for a solid run in the Telugu states, especially as audiences look for fresh content.
