Kiran Abbavaram’s latest film, Chennai Love Story, continues to perform well at the box office, marking a career-best opening weekend for the actor. The romantic drama, which also features Sri Gouri Priya as the female lead, has drawn strong crowds, particularly over its first Sunday in theatres.

Despite the film’s commercial success and positive overall reception, some viewers have expressed that the second half felt less engaging. Addressing these reactions, director Ravi Namburri shared insights in a recent post-release interview. He explained that the original cut of Chennai Love Story ran nearly four and a half hours, but significant portions were trimmed during editing to ensure a suitable runtime for theatrical audiences. According to Namburri, "if those scenes had been retained, many of the concerns surrounding the second half might not have existed." He emphasized that the decision to shorten the film was necessary for its release, even if it meant sacrificing some narrative depth.

Produced by SKN and Sai Rajesh—with Sai Rajesh also credited for the story—the film benefited from music by Mani Sharma, whose soundtrack generated notable buzz before release.
