It sounds almost unbelievable, but here we are. Koratala Siva the man behind blockbusters like Mirchi, Srimanthudu, and most recently Devara is reportedly sitting without a single confirmed project. For a director of his stature, this may well be happening for the first time in his career.
After the disappointing run of Acharya, Koratala Siva pinned his hopes on bouncing back with Devara, which went on to become a massive commercial success. The natural next step was Devara 2 with NTR, but that sequel has hit a wall. NTR's packed schedule has left the project without a clear start date, and the wait continues indefinitely.
In the meantime, Koratala reportedly approached two of Telugu cinema's biggest names Nandamuri Balakrishna and Pawan Kalyan with fresh scripts. Both turned him down. Balakrishna, it seems, is prioritizing collaborations with younger filmmakers, while Pawan Kalyan has committed his dates to Surendar Reddy's upcoming projects. To add to the setback, Koratala was also linked to Naga Chaitanya's milestone 25th film, but that project too has been handed over to a newer director.
The result? A blockbuster filmmaker with no film on the floor and no confirmed project on the horizon. Industry insiders say this kind of dry spell is virtually unheard of for someone of Koratala's track record.
For now, Devara 2 remains his only lifeline. Everything hinges on when NTR can free up his calendar. Until then, Koratala Siva finds himself in the most unexpected position of his career waiting on the sidelines, hoping the phone rings.
