Key Highlights

  • SS Karthikeya's production debut 'Don’t Trouble The Trouble' struggled post-release
  • Mahesh Babu and NTR promoted the film but audience turnout was low
  • Jason Sanjay's directorial debut 'Sigma' also failed to impress in both Tamil and Telugu
  • Gandhi Jayanthi weekend saw both star sons face box office setbacks

SS Karthikeya, son of acclaimed director SS Rajamouli, made his full-fledged debut as a producer with 'Don’t Trouble The Trouble', which released on October 2nd. Despite major Tollywood stars like Mahesh Babu and NTR promoting the film, the project failed to attract audiences. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil played the lead, and the film marked a significant step for Karthikeya after years of assisting his father on various projects.

The film's trailer did not generate strong buzz prior to release. After opening with paid premieres, 'Don’t Trouble The Trouble' faced a severe setback as audience turnout was low from the start. By the second day, several shows across the Telugu states were cancelled due to lack of viewers. Even on Sunday, the film saw no improvement in collections, with smaller releases outperforming it at the box office. According to reports, the film will only manage to recover its digital rights expenses, making this a disappointing debut for Karthikeya as a solo producer.

Meanwhile, Tamil superstar Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay also faced a tough debut as director with 'Sigma', starring Sundeep Kishan. Released in both Tamil and Telugu, 'Sigma' was met with poor word of mouth and failed to see any growth in collections. Many questioned Jason Sanjay’s choice of script, describing it as outdated.

The Gandhi Jayanthi weekend thus turned into a challenging period for both SS Karthikeya and Jason Sanjay, as their respective projects were rejected by audiences despite high-profile backing and promotional efforts.
