Superstar Mahesh Babu and visionary director SS Rajamouli are joining forces for the ambitious film Varanasi, which is set to wrap up shooting by October 2026. The film has already generated significant buzz, with its theatrical release scheduled for April 7, 2027.

After the global success of Rajamouli’s previous projects, fans have been eager to see what he will deliver next. Now, the official brand partner Sky-Blu Cinematix has unveiled the film’s synopsis, offering a glimpse into its high-concept storyline. According to the synopsis, the story is set in 2027, when a massive asteroid named Shambhavi threatens to collide with the holy city of Varanasi. Mahesh Babu plays Rudhra, a rugged archaeologist and explorer, who is recruited for a globe-spanning mission to recover an ancient cosmic artifact. He is joined by Mandakini, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a fierce historian and skilled marksman.

Their adventure takes them across Africa’s jungles, Antarctica’s icy landscapes, and various parts of Europe, all while being pursued by the tech-genius villain Kumbha, played by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The key to averting disaster is said to be hidden in Varanasi’s mythical past, blending elements of mythology and science fiction in what promises to be a unique cinematic experience.

KL Narayana of Sri Durga Arts is producing the film, with music composed by Keeravani. The project’s scale and genre-blending approach have already sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to see how Rajamouli will bring this vision to life on the big screen.
