Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli’s Varanasi Promises Unique Action, Says SS Karthikeya

Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli, is drawing major attention for its ambitious scale and star-studded cast. Rajamouli, who previously delivered blockbusters like RRR and Baahubali, teams up with Mahesh Babu for the first time in this project, raising expectations among Telugu cinema fans.

The film features Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran alongside Mahesh Babu, adding to the excitement. Producer SS Karthikeya recently shared new insights about the film’s action sequences, promising audiences something they haven’t seen before. "It’s a different kind of action, not the kind you saw in RRR or Baahubali. It’s a completely different kind of action, but you will be at the edge of your seat in every sequence," Karthikeya said, hinting at a fresh approach to stunt choreography and set pieces.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has been working on Varanasi for over a year, described the film as an epic adventure that spans the globe and different eras. She also mentioned that the movie includes several slow-motion jumps, adding to its visual spectacle. In July, Priyanka spoke about the demanding shoot schedule, noting her involvement for 14 months.

While Rajamouli is known for his grand action blocks, the team is keeping most plot details under wraps. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 7, 2027, and anticipation continues to build as more details emerge.
