Mahesh Babu’s involvement has given Rao Bahadur a significant boost, as the film led by Satya Dev has clinched a lucrative OTT deal with Netflix ahead of its theatrical release. The upcoming psychological drama, directed by Venkatesh Maha, has already created a buzz with its bold promotional strategies.
Produced by Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar under GMB Entertainment, in association with A+S Movies and Sri Chakraas Entertainments, Rao Bahadur managed to secure ₹7 crores from Netflix, as reported by recent media coverage. Notably, the agreement includes a performance-based clause—if the film fares well at the box office, the makers stand to gain an additional sum. This kind of deal is rare for small-budget films in the current competitive OTT landscape.
Industry insiders are crediting Mahesh Babu’s brand presence for attracting such a strong offer at an early stage, especially when smaller films are finding it difficult to lock in streaming deals. The cast includes Deepa Thomas in the female lead, with support from Vikas Muppala, Bala Parasar, Anand Bharathi, Pranay Vaka, and Master Kiran.
With Rao Bahadur scheduled for release on July 3, expectations are high among fans and the industry alike to see how the film performs both in theatres and on the digital platform.
