Mahesh Babu’s highly anticipated film Varanasi, helmed by ace director S.S. Rajamouli, is currently filming an intense and captivating action sequence that has caught the attention of fans nationwide. Following his monumental success with RRR, Rajamouli continues to raise the bar with this mytho-sci-fi entertainer, slated for release on April 7, 2027.
The action episode is being shot at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, featuring a fierce showdown between Mahesh Babu and the film’s antagonist, Prithviraj Sukumaran. The production team has erected elaborate sets and ensured tight security to prevent leaks, highlighting the scale and importance of this sequence. Alongside these two powerhouses, Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead, while Prakash Raj takes on a significant role, with KL Narayana producing under the Durga Arts banner.
A standout aspect of this film is a thrilling 25-minute motion capture sequence, which required a specially designed 36-foot high stage much larger than standard facilities to accommodate the elevated action scenes. CV Rao of Annapurna Studios revealed that international performers and crew worked under tight schedules to achieve this ambitious feat. Producer Sobhu Yarlagadda expressed that Rajamouli was extremely pleased with the final results of this complex sequence.
With filming progressing swiftly and the next schedule planned in Iceland, fans eagerly await more glimpses of Varanasi’s grandeur. The combination of Rajamouli’s visionary direction, Mahesh’s charisma, and cutting-edge technology promises an unforgettable cinematic experience.
