Mohanlal’s highly anticipated thriller Drishyam 3 is arriving in cinemas this Friday, aiming to continue the legacy of one of Indian cinema’s most revered franchises. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, who has steered the series since its inception, the film is poised for a simultaneous release in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada.

While the franchise enjoys immense loyalty—especially after the success of previous installments starring Mohanlal in Malayalam and Victory Venkatesh in Telugu—this third chapter has entered its final countdown surrounded by an unexpected silence. Originally, plans were in place for Venkatesh to reprise his role for the Telugu version, but scheduling conflicts forced his exit, resulting in only a dubbed Telugu release alongside the Malayalam original.

Despite the film’s strong brand and a dry spell at the South Indian box office, promotional efforts have been surprisingly limited outside Kerala. As per industry reports, even the trailer and songs failed to spark the usual online frenzy, and fans in the Telugu states remain largely unaware of the release. "A minimal effort of promotions will make a big difference," sources noted, highlighting missed opportunities in the run-up to the premiere.

With Pen Studios and producer Antony Perumbavoor backing this ₹100 crore venture, all eyes now turn to audience word-of-mouth and post-release traction. If the film’s content delivers, Drishyam 3 could yet overcome its quiet start and reignite the franchise’s pan-Indian appeal.
