Naga Chaitanya and Akhil move ahead with new projects

Nagarjuna’s much-anticipated Akkineni multi-starrer, which was set to bring together the star with his sons Naga Chaitanya and Akhil, has been officially shelved. The project, which generated considerable buzz among Telugu cinema fans, was to be helmed by director Kalyan Krishna Kurasala and jointly produced by Zee Studios and Annapurna Studios. The film’s shoot was initially planned for July, aiming for a grand Sankranthi 2027 release.

This ambitious entertainer was expected to mark a rare on-screen collaboration of the Akkineni family, raising expectations across the industry. However, as per reports, both Naga Chaitanya and Akhil were not fully satisfied with the final script, leading to their reluctance to proceed. Nagarjuna, respecting his sons’ creative instincts, decided not to push forward when the trio could not align on the project’s vision. Since there was never an official announcement about the film, the team does not plan to issue a statement regarding its shelving.

While fans had eagerly awaited updates, the focus now shifts to the individual careers of the Akkineni stars. Naga Chaitanya is currently engaged with "Dhootha 2," a film with Clax, and an upcoming horror project. Akhil, meanwhile, is in the process of finalizing his next film, having shortlisted two promising scripts. Nagarjuna is preparing to concentrate on his milestone project, "King 100," and is expected to sign a new film after Dasara.

With the Akkineni trio moving forward with their respective ventures, fans can look forward to a series of fresh projects from each of the stars in the coming months.
