Namit Malhotra, renowned for steering the ambitious mythological drama Ramayana, has announced plans to produce the highly anticipated Brahmastra 2. The announcement came during the team’s appearance at Cinema Con 2026, where Ramayana was being promoted as the most expensive Indian film to date, with its two-part release set for Diwali 2026 and 2027.
Malhotra’s involvement signals a major shift for the Brahmastra franchise. The first installment, "Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva," released in 2022, was directed by Ayan Mukerji and starred Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Despite earning moderate success at the box office, it reportedly fell short financially for its initial producer, Karan Johar.
The sequel will see Ayan Mukerji reprising his role as director, with Malhotra taking over production duties. As per the update, "Brahmastra 2 has now landed into the hands of Namit Malhotra," with more details expected soon. This development has sparked fresh excitement among fans eager for updates on the beloved fantasy adventure.
With Ramayana’s two-part saga building momentum for Diwali releases, all eyes now turn to how Malhotra and Mukerji will expand the Brahmastra universe. Further announcements about casting and production are anticipated in the coming months.
