Nikhil and Dhanush Eye Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 Dasara Release Slot

Nikhil Siddhartha’s big-budget Telugu film Swayambhu and Tamil star Dhanush’s Om – Chapter 1 are both positioning themselves for a potential Dasara release on October 15, 2026, as uncertainty surrounds Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Over the past week, industry speculation has grown that Jailer 2, directed by Nelson, may not meet its original October 15 release date due to extended post-production work. The team, with Anirudh handling the background score, is reportedly prioritizing quality and is not ready to compromise, even if it means shifting the release closer to Diwali. An official announcement on the new date is expected soon.

If Jailer 2 is postponed, both Swayambhu and Om – Chapter 1 are aiming to fill the coveted Dasara slot. Nikhil’s Swayambhu, which has wrapped up shooting and involved significant investment and VFX work, has yet to announce a firm release date. The producers are currently in discussions with stakeholders to secure the October 15 window. Meanwhile, Dhanush’s Om – Chapter 1, directed by Arun Matheswaran, has also completed filming and is ready for release, with the team reportedly planning to move quickly if the slot becomes available.

Earlier this year, there were reports that Jailer 2’s shoot had concluded and a September release was considered. However, the latest developments indicate a delay is likely, creating an opportunity for other major films to capitalize on the festive season. More clarity on the final release dates for all three films is expected in the coming weeks.
