Prashanth Neel's 418 Faces Censor Board Roadblock, Release Delayed

Prashanth Neel’s latest project, the horror film 418, has encountered a major hurdle with the Censor Board, putting its release plans on hold. Known for his high-octane action films, Neel is presenting this new venture, which is directed by Kirtan Nadagouda and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film was initially scheduled to hit theatres earlier this year, but the team has not been able to complete the certification process as planned.

According to recent reports, the Censor Board raised concerns about the intensity of horror elements depicted in 418. The filmmakers, who have kept most plot and cast details confidential to build suspense around the horror premise, have reportedly questioned the objections, emphasizing that the film is designed as a horror experience. With the certification process stalled, the team has now approached the Revising Committee in hopes of resolving the issue.

This situation is not unique to 418. Other Telugu films, such as Allari Naresh’s Rambha Urvasi Menaka and Korean Kanakaraju, have also faced scrutiny from the Censor Board over content and thematic concerns in recent months. The recurring challenges highlight a period of increased regulatory attention for Telugu cinema.

418 was previously postponed from its original July 31, 2026 release date, as announced by Mythri Movie Makers in July. The production house has stated that a new release date will be decided only after the certification matter is settled. For now, the fate of Prashanth Neel’s horror outing remains uncertain as it awaits the green signal from the authorities.
