Priyanka Chopra has set fans abuzz with the first look of her character Mandakini from the much-anticipated film Varanasi. Unveiled on her birthday through an international exclusive, the poster showcases Priyanka in a bold and intense new avatar, marking a significant departure from her previous roles. This reveal has sparked excitement across social media, with many praising her transformation and the intriguing character design.
Helmed by acclaimed director SS Rajamouli and penned by Vijayendra Prasad, Varanasi brings together a stellar cast including Mahesh Babu as Rudhra and Prithviraj Sukumaran as Kumbha. Priyanka’s Mandakini is described by the makers as a powerful yet emotionally nuanced figure, caught in a dramatic conflict between Rudhra and the formidable antagonist Kumbha. Notably, Mahesh Babu will also appear as Lord Rama in a segment of the film, adding further depth to the narrative.
Priyanka has been immersed in the project for nearly 14 months, with the current shooting schedule underway in Hyderabad. Speaking on a recent podcast, she called Varanasi “an epic adventure that travels across time and continents,” and humorously mentioned, “many slow-motion jumps” as part of her action-packed role. This film marks her return to Indian cinema after The Sky Is Pink and her first collaboration with Rajamouli, raising expectations among fans and industry watchers alike.
