Dharman aims for a Sankranthi 2027 theatrical release.

Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Dharman is set to begin filming tomorrow in Chennai, marking a new chapter in the superstar’s career. After wrapping up work on Jailer 2, which is slated for release this Dasara, Rajinikanth now steps into the role of a doctor for Dharman. The film’s first-look poster, unveiled in June, features him in a medical setting with the tagline ‘The Deadly Doctor’, sparking interest among fans.

Dharman, previously known as Thalaivar173, has seen several changes in its directorial team before Ashwath Marimuthu took charge. The project was initially linked with Sundar C and later Cibi Chakravarthi, but it is Ashwath who now helms the film. The movie is being presented by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, with Kamal reportedly investing significantly in the venture.

Raashii Khanna joins Rajinikanth in a key role, while Anirudh Ravichander handles the music and Niketh Bommi is in charge of cinematography. The production team plans to complete filming through quick schedules, aiming for a theatrical release during Sankranthi 2027. The festive timing is expected to boost the film’s box office prospects, as Sankranthi is traditionally a lucrative period for major releases.

With the shoot commencing and the release date targeted for early next year, Dharman is shaping up as one of the most anticipated projects in Rajinikanth’s lineup.
