Superstar Rajinikanth's much-awaited film, Dharman, produced by Kamal Haasan under the banner of Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), was officially launched with an elaborate pooja ceremony, instantly capturing the attention of fans worldwide. The first look, revealing Rajinikanth as a powerful doctor, has ignited a frenzy on social media, with his intense avatar and bloodied scalpel promising a gripping action entertainer.
This collaboration is especially significant as it unites two of Indian cinema's titans. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, friends and friendly rivals for over five decades, are teaming up in a new way—Rajini leading onscreen, Kamal backing the project as producer. Director Ashwath Marimuthu, known for his work on Dragon, expressed both his nervousness and excitement, sharing, "I am a Rajinikanth fan, and Kamal sir told me he is also a Rajni fan," highlighting the mutual respect between the legends.
The journey to Dharman was not without hurdles; Rajinikanth revealed that "as many as four directors" were associated before Ashwath Marimuthu finally took the helm. The project also features Simran and Raashi Khanna in pivotal roles, with music by Anirudh Ravichander and stunts choreographed by Anbariv. Kamal Haasan lauded Rajinikanth's dedication, stating he "took every onus on him," while Rajini credited Kamal for encouraging him early in his career and called on him to help make Dharman a "big blockbuster."
With shoot now underway and a Pongal 2027 release planned, anticipation is sky-high for this grand cinematic union. Fans can also look forward to Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, set for Diwali 2026.
