Rajkummar Rao stars as Ujjwal Nikam in this Maddock Films project
Film focuses on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack trial
Maddock Films also delayed Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha to December 2026
Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming film, Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story, has been officially postponed by Maddock Films. The production house, which recently shifted the release of Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha, is now rescheduling another major project in its 2026 lineup. Prahaar, originally slated for an August 7 release, will now hit theatres on October 16, 2026.
Directed by Avinash Arun, Prahaar explores the life and career of renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The film places a spotlight on Nikam’s pivotal role during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack trial, promising a gripping courtroom drama. Rajkummar Rao leads the cast as Ujjwal Nikam, with Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikandar Kher playing significant roles.
Maddock Films’ decision to revise its release calendar comes after Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor, was moved from August to December 2026. Industry sources indicate the studio is reworking its slate for the remainder of the year, affecting multiple projects. While no specific reasons for the postponements have been cited, the announcement has drawn attention from fans eager for updates on both films.
With Prahaar now set for an October release, audiences can look forward to seeing Rajkummar Rao in a challenging real-life role, under Avinash Arun’s direction. The film’s new date positions it for a festive season window, potentially boosting its reach among viewers interested in true crime and legal dramas.
