Ranbir Kapoor's next major project, Brahmastra 2, is making headlines as director Ayan Mukerji enters advanced discussions with Namit Malhotra, the producer behind the upcoming Ramayana. Following his recent work on Ramayana, which has expanded Prime Focus's reputation in VFX, Malhotra is now in talks to join Brahmastra 2 as a studio partner. This development comes after Jio Studios decided not to invest in the sequel, leaving Ayan Mukerji's Starlight Pictures searching for a new collaborator.
Prime Focus, led by Namit Malhotra, previously contributed to the first Brahmastra film in 2022, handling both production and its extensive visual effects. With Brahmastra 2 expected to demand even more advanced VFX, the partnership with Prime Focus appears to be a natural fit. However, sources indicate that while discussions are progressing, no official agreement has been reached yet.
Dharma Productions, which was associated with the original Brahmastra, is no longer involved in the sequel. Earlier, Ayan Mukerji also explored partnerships with Yash Raj Films, but those talks did not materialize. The team is now hopeful that a deal with Namit Malhotra and Prime Focus will be finalized soon.
Ranbir Kapoor is expected to begin shooting for Brahmastra 2 after completing his work on Ramayana, with production currently targeted for April 2027. Alia Bhatt is set to reprise her role as Isha in the sequel. As the project moves through pre-production, fans are eagerly awaiting more updates on casting and production details.
