Ranbir Kapoor is set to captivate audiences in the grand mythological epic Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Known for his versatile performances, Ranbir takes on the challenging dual roles of Lord Rama and Lord Parshurama in this ambitious project. The film, produced by Namit Malhotra, marks a significant milestone in Indian cinema with a staggering budget of ₹4000 crores.
The Ramayana will be released in two parts, with the first installment scheduled for Diwali 2026 and the second for Diwali 2027. Ranbir revealed that the combined runtime of both parts exceeds six hours, highlighting the film’s epic scale and emotional depth. Half of the second part’s shooting, particularly Ranbir’s portions, is already complete. The teaser, launched recently, received mixed reactions, but the star remains confident about the film’s layered storytelling and spectacular visuals.
The cast also includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Kannada superstar Yash portraying Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Legendary composer AR Rahman has begun working on the background score, while the Oscar-winning studio DNEG is handling the VFX, promising stunning cinematic effects.
Ranbir emphasized the spiritual and emotional preparation behind his roles, stating, “If you deeply understand the spirituality and the emotionality of the characters, I think everything starts from there.” With its unprecedented scale and star power, Ramayana is poised to be a landmark in Indian filmmaking.
