Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, encountered a safety scare when a fire broke out at a temporary structure near its shooting location in Mumbai’s Film City on Monday. The incident, which occurred behind Prime Focus Studio in Goregaon East, was swiftly managed by the Mumbai Fire Brigade, who classified it as a Level-I fire. The blaze was reported at 4:02 PM and extinguished within an hour, with minor damage to electrical wiring, cables, wooden planks, an AC unit, bamboo, plastic materials, and some shooting equipment.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) president B N Tiwari confirmed that the fire was contained before it could spread, stating, “No one was injured.” He clarified that the incident took place in a tent outside the main studio where Ramayana is being filmed, and the damage was minimal. Reports from the Ramayana team further emphasized that the fire did not affect the primary set, countering viral social media visuals suggesting otherwise.
Ramayana, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, is one of the most awaited films of the year. The first part, titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is scheduled for a worldwide release on November 6, 2026, aligning with the festive Diwali season. As the release date approaches, the production team’s prompt response to the fire incident has reassured fans and industry observers that Ramayana’s schedule remains on track.
